Requirements for the Use of PPE

As a part of our commitment to ensuring the safety of all employees, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory for tasks that have been evaluated and identified as having potential risks and hazards. This includes, but is not limited to, tasks involving potential exposure to harmful substances, unsafe physical conditions, extreme temperatures, or potentially harmful environmental factors. The exact type of PPE required will depend on the risk assessment of the task and may comprise of safety goggles, gloves, masks, safety shoes, hard hats, and full coverage suits as deemed necessary.

Responsibilities for Provision and Maintenance

The employer is committed to providing all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at no cost to employees. This is to ensure that each individual worker has the appropriate gear required for their specific tasks, helping to minimize potential risks and hazards. The employer is responsible for the provision, replacement, and maintenance of all PPE. All equipment is to be kept in a sanitary, reliable condition, ensuring it is fit for its intended purpose. Regular checks will be carried out to ensure its condition and effectiveness. PPE will be replaced as needed, either due to standard wear and tear, damage, or when it is deemed no longer effective.

Training on Proper Usage

In addition to providing the required PPE, the employer is also obliged to provide comprehensive training to all employees who are required to wear PPE. This training is aimed at ensuring all employees understand the importance of PPE, know when and how to use it correctly, are aware of its limitations, and understand the correct procedures for care and maintenance. This training will be provided before the employee starts any work requiring the use of PPE and will be revisited regularly to ensure continuing competence and understanding. The frequency and nature of the training will be tailored to the specific job role and the associated risks.

This policy is essential in our commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, and adherence to its guidelines is mandatory for all employees.
